For the Manchester United v Arsenal match at Old Trafford last month, JG Presenting Partner Indesit, ran a fantastic competition giving our Junior Gunners the chance to win the ultimate away trip experience.

To enter we asked the JGs to tell us, if they won, who they would take with them to the match and why? We challenged our young fans to come up with a creative entry and boy did they deliver! After receiving loads of brilliant entries we decided we also had to award a second and third place prize, giving away some great Arsenal goodies.

JG Andrew took the third place position, winning an Arsenal goodie bag packed full of Junior Gunners accessories, and in second place, Lily won herself a squad photo signed by members of the Arsenal first team!

After much deliberation the first place prize was awarded to brothers Alex and Ben, who had created an amazing video, with a little help from the rest of their family. For their prize, Indesit provided Alex and Ben with four tickets (Click to find tickets) to the match, accommodation for two nights in Manchester as well as train travel to the north!

It sounds as though Alex, Ben and their parents really made the most of their weekend in Manchester. On the Saturday they made a trip to the National Football museum, catching a glimpse of some of the trophies and getting involved with the interactive football games. On Sunday, before heading to the match, they took a trip to the BBC media city for a quick look around.

Dad Andy thanked Indesit for the great prize and said: “There was much excitement before the match, they enjoyed learning a couple of the new songs, the Mesut Ozil song in particular… The game started well, but Arsenal’s performance obviously didn’t live up to our expectations. Still, a very memorable weekend. Great accommodation, and relaxing train travel.”

Alex said: “Thank you very much for choosing us to win the prize. I had a great time, even though I saw Arsenal lose for the first time. It was my 13th game…. My favourite bit of the weekend, as well as watching Arsenal at Man United, was the big breakfasts in the hotel!”

Ben added “I loved going to Old Trafford to watch Arsenal, and was very disappointed that they lost. I liked learning the Mesut Ozil song, and also getting to hold the FA Cup and Premier League trophy at the football museum. Thank you Junior Gunners!”

Steve Gatting says Arsenal Under-21s’ performance against Fulham was “some of the best football” they have played this season.

The Gunners eased to a 3-0 victory at Motspur Park thanks to goals from Kaylen Hinds, Stephy Mavididi and Marc Bola in the first half.

We’re near the top of the league, we’re still in the Youth Cup and we’re coming to the business end of the season where things are won or lost

Steve Gatting

Gatting was impressed with how his side coped against an experienced Fulham team and extended their unbeaten run to seven games.

“It was very pleasing indeed,” he told Arsenal Player. “I thought the first 45 minutes was some of the best football we have played this season.

“There were difficult circumstances as they are a decent side, but our tempo was good and we got the ball back quickly and created chances. We remained positive, broke well and could have had another in the second half.

“The boys played with a lot of desire and I think it probably helped that it was on the back of the Youth Cup win because it is a similar team and the boys are on the front foot at the moment.

“We’re near the top of the league, we’re still in the Youth Cup and we’re coming to the business end of the season where things are won or lost. If we keep playing like we did here then we will be near the top of the league, but we need to keep it going game by game.”

Alexis admits that he feels “guilty” when he does not score.

The Chile international’s north London derby equaliser was his first Premier League goal since October as he returns to top form.

I go home, can’t sleep and I just think I have to play better

Alexis

Alexis says he is enjoying his time at the club, but feels a resposnsibility to score or create for his team-mates.

“I think that I’ve adapted really well in terms of fitting into the club and it’s been very good,” he said. “But at the same time I’m not the kind of person to become complacent or think, ‘That’s it’.

“I always want to improve and give my absolute all to the team.

“The truth is that I do enjoy [the responsibility]. When I don’t score goals I feel like I’ve failed the team and I feel guilty.

“I go home, can’t sleep and I just think I have to play better.”

Arsenal Football Club has unveiled a package of measures designed to help supporters with the cost of attending matches.

The club has announced that it is freezing all general admission season ticket and match ticket prices for the next two seasons, meaning that general admission prices will be flat for all games at Emirates Stadium until at least 2018/2019.

The club is also providing a further £4 discount for its away supporters attending Premier League matches, in addition to the £30 cap on away tickets (Click to find tickets) announced by the Premier League.

This will ensure no Arsenal fans will pay more to support Arsenal at Premier League away games than the lowest priced £26 ticket that both visiting and home fans can pay to watch their teams at Emirates Stadium.

It means Arsenal fans who travel to every away Premier League match next season will save up to £370 compared to the full adult ticket price.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “We have fantastic support home and away.  We know that following the club is a commitment and are always seeking to strike the right balance in our pricing.

“These steps mean that we will have held general admission season ticket prices flat for nine of the 12 years since our move to Emirates Stadium by 2018, and are also designed to make things a little easier for our travelling fans who often face the highest prices when watching Arsenal play away.

“In terms of the financial support for away fans, we have consistently been strongly in favour of doing more to help and were originally in favour of a Premier League proposal around travel initiatives which would have been even more generous to travelling fans than the £30 cap.

“Once it became clear this would not receive enough support across the Premier League clubs, we supported and directed the funds to the £30 cap plus an additional £4 ticket discount for Arsenal’s away fans.”

These moves are on top of the work the club has done with its supporters around categorising matches to provide a greater price range of tickets (Click to find tickets) at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal offers 43,000 match tickets (Click to find tickets) a season priced at £26, 14,000 £10 tickets (Click to find tickets) to 12-16 year olds within the Young Guns Enclosure and have 26,000 tickets (Click to find tickets) as low as £10 for each potential Capital One Cup fixture.

Olivier Giroud has dedicated his two goals at Hull City to his newborn son.

The Arsenal striker started on Humberside just hours after his wife gave birth to their second child, a boy named Evan.

Giroud was delighted to mark becoming a father again by scoring for the first time in 12 appearances.

I travelled to Hull and I wanted to dedicate these two goals to him. I’m very happy to score

“I could have missed the game actually, so I was glad that he arrived during the night,” Giroud told Arsenal Player. “I could have a little rest [after he was born].

“I travelled to Hull and I wanted to dedicate these two goals to him. I’m very happy to score.

“We scored four goals, so that’s a good efficiency up front and at the back, so we can be happy with our performance tonight.

“It’s always hard for a striker not to score but you have to keep the confidence as high as you can and work hard at training. I’m very pleased to get back on the scoresheet and to smell the first goal.

“After, it was a good assist from Theo [for the second]. I succeeded to put two in the net and it’s nice for the team.

“It’s nice for me obviously and now it’s Watford. If we go through, we go to Wembley.”
